SMXC Celebrates 50 Seasons at Annual Team Banquet

PIKE CREEK XC GIRLS FINISH 3RD IN OPEN DIVISION!!

BOYS FINISH 13TH IN OPEN DIVISION!!

Saint Mark's XC, running under PIKE CREEK XC, had a fantastic day in tough conditions at the Nike Cross Regional Championship in Cary, NC at Wake Med Park. The girls finished 3rd overall in the Open Division to earn a trip to the podium! The boys finished 13th in the Open Division II out of 23 schools!

The team was led by Tiffany Herrera's 4th place finish in 19:07 on the sloppy course. Steph Herrera finished 26th overall in 20:34, Jordan Ormsby was 47th, Sarah Donaldson finished 60th, and Erin Gebhardt was 91st overall to round out the top 5. CC Adair and Amanda Tucci both had excellent post-season races!

On the boys' side, Connor Hessler again led the team by finishing 51st overall in 17:41. Aidan Campbell was the next finisher for Pike Creek, coming in 74 in 17:57. Luke Harrington (109th), Jack Vito (130th), and Danny Dougherty (153rd) rounded out the top-5 for the team. Jack Daly, Jack Cleary, Ryan Quirk, Ricky Kiamelev, and Demetri Lennon also had strong performances for the team!

The girls had their highest team finish since 2011 in coming in 3rd overall at the DIAA state meet with 91 points. Tiffany Herrara earned 1st-team All State by finishing 3rd overall (5th fastest time of the day). Jordan Ormsby finished 9th overall, Steph Herrera finished 12th, and Sarah Donaldson finished 24th to put four girls in the top-25. Erin and Hannah finished together in 43rd and 44th place, and Natalia Delgado rounded out the varsity in 76th place.

Connor Hessler led the boys for 10 straight meets in finishing 11th overall in 18:04. He held the 21st fastest time on the day! Aidan Campbell and Jack Vito finished 37th and 38th overall. Seniors Jack Daly and Luke Harrington finished 55th and 57th overall to round out the top 5. Johnny Gerard and Danny Dougherty also had big days for the varsity.

Girls combine for 22 season-best PRs!

The girls had a fantastic showing at the 38th Catholic Conference Championships. The #3 ranked Spartans squared off against Division II #1 ranked Ursuline and Division 1 #1 ranked Padua and finished 2nd overall! Tiffany Herrera (18:34) finished 2nd overall to earn 1st-Team All Catholic honors, and Jordan Ormsby (20:11) finished 7th for 1st-Team honors! Sarah Donaldson (20:18) finished 9th overall!

The varsity girls finished 5th and the boys finished 9th at the Joe O'Neill Invitational.

Freshman Tiffany Herrera just narrowly missed the 5K school record by 1 second, finishing 3rd overall in 18:28. The record of 18:27 was set by Emily Frydrych in 2010. Stephanie Herrara finished 14th overall to run the 10th fastest 5K time in 19:27. Jordan Ormsby (20:16) and Sarah Donaldson (20:47) made history in helping the girls finish 5th.

Connor Hessler ran the 24th fastest 5K in boy's school history on Friday. His time of 16:48 was good for 20th overall! Aidan Campbell, Luke Harrington, and Jack Vito finished under 18:00 to score for the team! The boys held their #4 state ranking in Division II.

The team combined to set 45 new personal records for the season!

Freshmen Tiffany Herrera wins Varsity race, runs #2 time in school history (19:29) ; Connor Hessler 4th overall!

The girls' varsity cross country team took home first first-place overall at the University of Delaware Blue-Gold Invitational on Friday! The boy's varsity finished 3rd overall, with boy JV squads also taking home wins!

Tiffany Herrera led the way by taking first overall in a time of 19:29. She came just 4 seconds shy of the White Clay course school record set by Analise Kaminski in 2013. She improved on her own freshman course record, and now holds the #2 time in school history at White Clay. Stephanie Herrera (20:53) ran the 9th fastest time in school history at White Clay to finish 3rd overall, and Jordan Ormsby (21:10) holds the 13th fastest time in finishing 5th. Sarah Donaldson (10th) Erin Gebhardt (13th) Natalia Delgado (14th) and Hannah Heredia (19th) all finished in the top 20! This was the girls' first invitational win since 2010.

Our boys were led by Connor Hessler's 4th-place finish and course personal best of 17:43. Jack Vito (18:31) and Aidan Campbell (18:33) finished in the top-13, while Luke Harrington (19:03) finished 20th overall. The boys finished 3rd out of 11 schools.

A pair of freshmen, Danny Dougherty and Kelly Barker, both took first overall in the JV races to help the teams win! Greg Savin finished 3rd overall, and was a key contributor in the boys' 32-33 victory over Charter. This was their first invitational win in over a decade. The girls' JV team placed 7 runners in the top 9 spots!

The teams compete again on Friday at the Joe O'Neill Invitational, named after our legendary XC coach!

The varsity girls finished 2nd overall in the small schools race at the Salesianum Invitational, and the boys came in 6th! The team was led by Tiffany Herrera, who took first overall in 20:05! Her time is #2 in school history, and is the top Delaware time of the day! Connor Hessler finish 7th overall to the lead the boys!

Stephanie Herrera finished 9th, Jordan Orsmby 12, Sarah Donaldson 16th, and Aidan Campbell finished 20th to medal for the teams!

The varsity girls improved one spot from last year to finish 2nd overall in the Varsity E race at the Six Flags Invitational. The boys finished in 5th, just 5 points off the podium as they had their best team performance of the year. The JV girls repeated in picking up a trophy finishing 2nd overall! The boys' JV finished 8th.

Tiffany Herrera came in 2nd overall and now holds the 3rd fastest 5K time in school history at 18:51. Only Emily Fryrych (18:27) and Analise Kaminski (18:38) have run faster times. She improved her freshman school record by 13 seconds. Stephanie Herrera finished 8th overall in 20:50, Jordan Ormsby ran to 13th, Sarah Donaldson finished 17, and Hannah Herreda rounded out the top-5 in finishing in 22:18.

Connor Hessler finished 9th overall, and Jack Vito ran 17:41 in his first XC 5K debut! Aidan Campbell ran a PR in 17:48. Luke Harrington finished in 18:28 to medal for the team, and Ethan Kacmarcik ran his lifetime PR in finish in 19:02.

Tiffany Herrera Wins Delaware Online Athlete of the Week

Tiffany Herrera won the Delaware Online Athlete of the Meet for her performance at the Middletown Invitational. Tiffany finished 1st overall in the race and set a new freshman Saint Mark's record for 5K. Spread the word!

The girls finished 3rd overall at out 30 schools at the Middletown Invite. The boys finished 11th.

Tiffany Herrera broke the school freshman record in winning the meet in 19:04. Her time is #3 in school history for a 5K on any course! Jordan Orsmby and Sarah Donaldson both finished in the top 20, running 15th and 17th, respectively. Olivia Sebastiani had the top time for the JV girls who finished 2nd overall.

Connor Hessler finished 7th overall in the boys' race and Aidan Cambell finished 23rd overall in 18:10. Luke Harrington took first overall in the JV race in 18:30.

Saint Mark's XC had a big day at the White Clay Creek Classic. Tiffany Herrera scored 19 points for the team in finishing 2nd overall in the freshman race. She broke Cassie White's Freshman school record for White Clay Creek with a time of 20:09. White's 20:14 has stood since 2003. Jordan Ormsby ran 21:50 to run one of the top 25 times in school history! Stephanie Herrera finished 10th in the freshman race. Connor Hessler ran 8th overall in the sophomore race!

Girls Finish 6th, Boys Finish 8th at Unionville 2 Miler

The The girls' XC team finished 6th overall and the boys finished 8th out of 23 schools at the Unionville 2 Mile Bash.

The teams were led by Tiffany Herrera's 5th place finish in the freshman race and Connor Hessler's 14th place finish in the junior race.

Stephanie Herrera finished 12th in the freshman race, Jordan Ormsby finished 11th and Erin Gebhardt finished 20th in the Sophomore race, and Sarah Donaldson finished 17th in the junior race to medal for the team. On the boys' side, Jack Vito finished 15th in the sophomore race, Aidan Campbell finished 19th in the junior race, and Danny Dougherty finished 19th in the freshman race.

Kieran Tuntivate- will spoke at the 2018 SMXC Summer Kickoff Party. Kieran competed for Charter School of Wilmington and currently runs for Harvard University.
