Girls finish 6th overall at DIAA States, ranked #10 in DE

The XC girls finished 6th overall at the Division II state meet on Saturday in Felton, DE.

Varsity 8th, JV 3rd at New Castle County Championship

Varsity has big day at Counties! JV ends the season ranked #3 in Delaware!

The girls had a very strong showing at the New Castle County Championships, running their best team race of the season! Ana Dacey, Sarah Donaldson, and Cameron Johnson had SMXC all-time performances, running 30th, 38th, and 47th respectively. Erin Gebhardt, Lauren Augustynowicz, Maddy Pruitt, and Natalia Delgado had excellent races to pace the team to 8th overall!

The JV ended the season as one of the top ranked teams of the year. In the last 5 meets the JV has finished 1st, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, and 3rd overall. Jill Boffa, Grace Dohl, and Kacey Tramont led the JV with strong performances in the top 30! Seniors Andy Moran and Liz Steenkamer rounded out the top 5, with Cathryn Guidash and Maureen Kirk helping the team reach their season goal!

The DIAA state meet is next Saturday at Killens Pond!

SMXC Sets 21 Season Bests at Catholics

Varsity finishes 3rd and JV 2nd; 4 named to All-Catholic Teams

The team combined to set 21 season-best performances at the Catholic Conference Championship! Ana Dacey was named to 1st-team All Catholic, and Sarah Donaldson, Lauren Augustynowicz, and Cameron Johnson were named to 2nd-Team All Catholic!

The JV placed 3 runners in the top 10, as Natalia Delgado, Maddy Pruitt, and Jill Boffa finished 4, 7, and 9 respectively!

Saint Mark's & Sallies Team Up

Saint Mark’s teamed up with Salesianum to support the Muscle Movement Foundation. The group also ran in tribute to Coach Lo Sapio’s two sons, who were born with Muscular Dystrophe. The girls attended to support the boys’ team and to show support for MMF and the Lo Sapios!

The team's depth is again on display as the JV girls take home back-to-back wins! Varsity medals 4 and JV medals 2!

XC Team Rankings thru 10/15

Varsity 3rd and JV Wins the Six Flags Wild Safari Invite!!!

Girls combine for 13 medals on the afternoon, 18 Season PRs, 5 girls crack top-25 All Time!

The team had their best performance of the season and brought home the a first-place trophy for the first time in seven years at the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational. The varsity ended the day with a 3rd-place plaque against tough out-of-state competition. They came within 7 points of beating Nazareth Academy, a very challenging out-of-state team.

Ana Dacey, Sarah Donaldson, Lauren Augustynowicz, Cameron Johnson, and Erin Gebhardt all finished in the top-30 in the race to score for the team and earn medals. Liz Steenkamer and Andie Moran rounded out the top-7 for varsity. The first five runners also cracked the top-25 all time in school history!

Seven JV girls earned top-30 medals in their victory (Jill Boffa, Maddy Pruitt, Kacey Tramont, Cathryn Guidash, Morgan Shiber, Maureen Kirk, and Grace Dohl).

The team combined for 16 season-best performances!

XC Team Rankings thru 10/1

DCXC INVITE

The team combined to have a great day at the DCXC Invite

The girls had a strong showing in very warm conditions at the DCXC Invite on Saturday. Ana Dacey led the team with a 29th place finish in the varsity senior race. Her time of 21:12 was just 2 seconds off her PR. Cameron Johnson finished 49th in the senior race with a new lifetime PR of 22:02. Sarah Donaldson competed in her first race of the season, and finished 37th overall in the varsity sophomore race in 22:33. Erin Gebhardt came in 31st overall in the varsity freshman race in a time of 23:05. Junior Kacey Tramont medaled in the JV race, finishing 15th overall!

XC Team Rankings thru 9/26

White Clay Creek Classic

3 in the Top-10, 5 in the top 20 at WCCC

The Saint Mark's XC girls posted 3 top-10th finishes on Friday at the White Clay Creek Classic. Ana Dacey, Maddy Pruitt, and Erin Gebhardt all finished 10th overall in their races to medal for the team. Cameron Johnson and Lauren Augustynowicz both finished in the top 20 of the senior races. The team put 5 girls under 23:31 on the day.

Big Performances at the Nike Cherokee Challenge

The girls had a big showing at the Nike Cherokee Challenge in Marlton, NJ. Lauren Augustynowicz and Cameron Johnson led the way for the senior girls with top-10 all time performances for the team on the course. Lauren's 13:37 is #6 all time, and Cameron's 13:47 is #8 all time! Freshman Erin Gebhardt finished as the highest point scorer of the day for the Spartans with a 33rd place finish in 14:02! Sophomore Maddy Pruitt finished 90th overall in the Sophomore race in 14:26!

SMXC Brings Back 250-Mile Club

The Spartanrunner 250-Mile Club was established in 2013 to challenge the girls to step up their summer training. This challenge wasn't easy. The rule was to run 250 miles in 11 weeks and to keep track all summer runs with an online running log. In the first season,14 girls reached the goal.
