Boys finish Runner up at DIAA State Meet; Girls finish 9th!

The boys finished 2nd overall at the DIAA State Meet on Saturday at Brandywine Creek State Park.  This is their highest finish in 13 years as the Spartans scored 93 points to finish runners up!

The team was led by Alec Jurgaitis who set a new school record in running 16:58 over 5K to earn 1st Team All State!

Brian Yeager and Connor Stockton also finished 3rd team all state!

The girls finished 9th overall with 258 points, led by Tessa Palm's 42nd place finish!

Boys take 3rd at Joe O'Neill Invitational!! 

Boys finish 2nd at Great American

The boys finished 2nd overall out of 40 schools at the Great American XC Festival Red Division Race. Girls varsity finished 13th out of 40 schools as well!

The team was led by Patrick's Hogate and Alec Jurgaitis at 16:52 and 17:10, respectfully.  The pack of Abner Murillo, Michael Witkowski, Brian Yeager, Connor Stockton, Evan Paskevicius, and Brandon Smith all finished between 17:23 and 17:48!

The girls were led by top finishes from Ava Hutton and Cara Lego!

All 37 athletes ran season best or lifetime bests at the meet!

Catholic Conference Championship

Boys Capture the Championship; girls finish a close 2nd!!

**State Record Falls**

Danni McGonigle jumped 39-3.75 at the Unionville Invitational in the triple jump to set a new state record!  This eclipses her school record of 39-2 set last spring. 

The girls also took first overall in 6 events, and the boys took home many top-5 finishes. The team won the discus (Foresta), 100M (Alexis Donovan) 100H (McGonigle), 200M (Garibaldi) 300h(Arianna Donovan) and the triple jump! The team took 2nd in the 400M (Garibaldi) boys shot (Watson), and the long jump (Rizzo).

The 4x100M team of Arianna Donovan, Reagan Garibaldi, Ava Malgiero, and Alexis Donovan ran 49.87 to break the school record, which stood since 1992!

The boys 4x100M team ran the 3rd fastest Delaware time of the day in 44. and the 4x400M team ran their fastest time of the season!


The Spartan Invite is Back!

Saint Mark's finishes up dual meet schedule with a sweep vs Conrad.

The girls 4x100M team of Sophomores Ava Malgiero, Reagan Garibaldi, Alexis Donovan, and Arianna Donovan broke the school record in running 49.9 against Conrad on Wednesday. The record stood since 1992!  

The boys finish the season 3-0, while the girls finish 3-1 overall!

Records Drop at the Twilight Invite

Both the boys and girls Swedish Medley Relay teams broke the school record at the Twilight Invite. The girls broke the record by 5 seconds in running 2:23.35. The boys took down the record by 1 second in running 2:02!

Luke Watson took first overall in the shot put with a big throw of 49'5".

N5CTA Invitational

The team had a big day at the N5CTA Invitational.  Elena Foresta led the way by winning the discus with a throw of 103. The boys' 4x400m ended the meet by winning in a time of 3:36!

Spartans shine despite the rain

The Spartans picked up many medals on Saturday at the AI Invitational.

The team kicked off the meet by winning the girls' 4x800M and with a 3rd place boys' finish. The team of Natalie Donaldson, Gianna Bracalenti, Ashley Geisewite, and Lauren McDonald ran 10:21 to capture the title. The boys medaled in 3rd place with a team of 8:57!

The Spartans also took first overall in the 4x100, with one of the fastest times in school history. The team of Ava Malgiero, Reagan Garibaldi, Arianna Donovan, and Alexis Donovan ran 51.07 to run away with the win. Garibaldi came back to win the 200M in a time of 25.85!

Chad Dohl finished 2nd overall in the Long Jump with a mark of 20-10!

Spartans Kick off the season 1-0

The defending state champions started off the season with big wins over Newark Charter. The team was led by high scorers Bryce Tucci on the boys side; and Alexis Donovan, Arianna Donovan, and Reagan Garibaldi on the girls' side.  Bryce Tucci took first overall in the 110 hurdles and the triple jump, and he finished 2nd in the 300 hurdles and the high jump.

Girls finish 3rd, boys 20th at DIAA States

McGonigle and 4x200 Girls are state champs!

The girls' Track and Field team finished 3rd out of over 30 schools at the DIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The team combined for 39 points to tie with Smyrna.  The girls were led by Danni McGonigle, who won the triple jump and placed 3rd in both the long jump and high jump. Her long jump mark of 17-11.25 set a new school record, and she tied her own record in the triple jump and high jump!

The 4x200M team of Chloe Bedwell, Reagan Garibaldi, Arianna Donovan, and Alexis Donovan ran to victory in a new school record time of 1:47.

More Records Fall at the Armory!

Natalie runs 3:07.92!!  Reagan goes 42.14!!  Both DE #1 Times

The Spartans broke school records #4 and #5 on the season as Natalie Donaldson and Reagan Garabaldi claimed the titles in the 1000M and 300M, respectively. Natalie ran 3:07.92 to break Tiffany Herrera's record from 2019 of 3:08.95. Tiffany had previously broken the record which was owned by Sarah Donaldson, sister to Natalie. Natalie's 1000M is DE#1 ranked! Reagan Garibaldi broke a 25-year-old school record in the 300M with a DE #1 time of 42.14. The record was set in 1998 by Mailia Madric at the state meet in 42.33.  

Earlier in the year Reagan broke the record in the 200M, and Danni McGonigle shattered the school and STATE records in the triple long, to go along with tying the school record in the high jump. 

Samantha Minner also competed at the Armory with a triple jump mark of 31-4.

Team Shines at Virginia Showcase

Garibaldi breaks 200M School Record!

The team had a tremendous weekend at the Virgnia Showcase. Reagan Garibaldi led the way with a new school record peformance in the 200M. Her times of 26.08 broke the record set last year by teammate Arianna Donovan at 26.16, which was set at the New Balance Indoor Nationals last March.   Danni McGonigle finished 6th in the Championship Triple Jump with a mark of 38-3.

Girls finish 3rd at Ursinus; boys finish 15th 

The girls finished 3rd overall out of 27 schools at the Ursinus Invitational on Sunday. Danni McGonigle led the way in winning the long jump in 17-1. Natalie Donaldson finished 3rd overall in the 800m and a 5th in the 3000M to help the team.  The boys' 4x800 team finished 3rd overall with a time of 8:55.  The team competes this weekend at Virginia Beach and Tower Hill.

Saint Mark's Results

The girls' 4x200 took 1st overall with a time of 1:50.27. Natalie Donaldson took 2nd overall in the girls' mile with a run of 5:15.64. Alexis Donovan also took 2nd in the girls' 55M with a time of 7.66.

DIAA STATE MEET

Donaldson 5th overall, Stockton 10th!!  Boys finish 6th and Girls 7th overall!

Felton, DE.  Senior Natalie Donaldson finished 5th overall and ended her senior year as one of the greatest XC runners in school history. She earned 2nd-team All-State with her 19:31 performance!  Connor Stockton medaled with a 10th-place finish for the boys, his highest finish at states as a Spartan. The boys were also led by Topher Lord (26th) and Michael Witkowski (28th). Other key contributors for the boys were Brian Yeager (47th), Abner Murillo (55th), Charlie Lord (59th) and Andrew Bailey (86th). 

The girls had key finishes by senior record holders Kaleigh Brady (35th) and Marissa Cirillo (54th).  The pack of Katelyn Rybaltowski (64th), Sienna Trumbull (65th) and Ashley Geisewite (66th) all finished together to help the Spartans, with Lauren McDonald rounding out the seven runners in 83rd.

New Castle County Champs

The Saint Mark's Girls finished 8th and the boys finished 7th at the New Castle County Championships on Saturday. Natalie Donaldson led the way by finishing All County in coming in 10th overall. Connor Stockton led the boys by again becoming All County with a 14th place finish!

Donaldson 4X All Catholic in finishing 3rd; Stockon also 3rd, Lord 5th!

The boys finished a close 2nd to Salesianum and the girls also had a close 3rd place finish at the Catholic Conference Championship. The team was again led by senior Natalie Donaldson and Junior Connor Stockton.
This is Natalie's 4th All Catholic Honor and 3rd 1st Team recognition!


Killens Pond Invite

Natalie Donaldson and Connor Stockton both finished 5th overall at the Killens Pond Invitational, with Topher Lord finishing 10th overall to help lead the Spartans. The boys finished 4th overall, with the girls coming in 6th.

The boys finished 6th and the girls finished 8th out of 44 schools at the Joe O'Neill Invitational. Natalie Donaldson again led the way by finishing 6th overall out of over 250 runners!

Six Flags Invitational



The Six Flags Invite did not disappoint, as the team again came back with trophies, PRs, and lots of fast times!  Natalie Donaldson led the way with a course PR and 5th place overall finish. Her time if 19:27 is #4 in school history on the course. Three boys (Stockton, Yeager, and Witkowski) finished under 17:45 and ran top-15 times in school history!

Jenny Cantoran-Vasquez  led the charge as 4 girls set a new course record in the freshman race. The girls won the meet!

UNIONVILLE INVITE


The team had a very strong showing at the Unionville 2 Mile Bash, led by Natalie Donaldson's 7th place senior finish. Her time of 12:15 is #3 in school history! The boys finished 13th overall as a team out of 38 schools, while the girls came in 14th out of 40 school. Brian Yeager again broke a class school record for the second straight year in running 11:27 in the sophomore race!  

Natalie, Kaileigh, and Abner all medaled for the team!

SMXC SUMMER KICKOFF PARTY

2022 Guest Speaker -Andrew Avila- 

Harvard rising Sophomore and Charter School of Wilmington standout  Andrew Avila will speak at this year's SMXC Summer Kickoff Party. Andrew was the top runner on the 2019 state championship Charter School XC program. He holds personal bests of 15:24 for 5000M and 9:06 for 3200M and is a 6 x 1st Team All State Athlete!

!!!!!!-2 STATE CHAMPIONS-!!!!!!

BOTH the boys and girls took home the state championship over the weekend at the 2022 DIAA STATE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP!!  The boys won the first title in school history, while the girls repeated as state champions and won their 5 title. The boys scored 95 points to outlast AI duPont, while the girls tied 167-167 vs Tatnall for the victory! It was the highest scoring 2-team total in state history!  

The boys were led by Max DiOssi and Jabri White. Max won the shot put and Jabri took gold in the long jump! The team got 2nd place finishes from Vaughn Highland in the Shot Put,  and 3rd from Casey Winnington in the 3200M, the 4x800 relay, the 4x200 relay, and the 4x100 relay!

The girls were led by Tiffany Herrera, Danni McGonigle, and Sarah Hessler.  Tiffany Herrera took gold in the 3200 and 1600, Danni McGonigle won the triple jump and high jump, Sarah Hessler won the discus, and the 4x200M relay! Danni earned 2nd overall in the long jump and set a meet record and school record  in the triple jump with a 38-3!

Girls finish 3rd, boys finish 8th at New Castle Counties

Tiffany Herrera led the way by winning the 3200M with a time of 11:03. Stephanie Herrera finished 2nd behind Tiffany to also earn All County honors. Sarah Hessler finished runner up in both the shot put and discus. Max DiOssi and Vaughn Highland when 2-3 in the shot put as well. Freshman Reagan Garibaldi took 3rd overall in 25.96 to earn All County!

The girls' 4x200 team of Ava Malgiero, Morgan Russo, Reagan Garibaldi, and Arianna Donovan finished 4th with a time of 1:47.86. That is the fastest 4x200 time in over 20 years!

Casey Winnington took 5th overall in the 3200M with a 9:40.

Boys win Catholics! Girls finish 2nd!

The Saint Mark's boys took home the title at the Catholic Conference Championship with a 95-83 victory over Salesianum! The boys were led by Bryce Tucci's double win the 110h and 300H and 2nd place finishes in the triple jump and high jump! Vaughn Highland was a double winner in the shot put and discus!

The girls took 2nd overall. They were led by Tiffany Herrera's win in the 1600m and 2nd place finish in the 3200M and Sarah Hessler's win in the discus and 2nd place finish in the shot put! Full write-up coming soon!

Sarah hessler threw 38-8 to break the School Record in the shot put! Tiffany Herrera took first place overall in the 1600 and 2nd overall in the 800M!

4x1600 and Swedish Medley Records Fall at Twilight

The 4x1600M relay team of Stephanie Herrera, Tiffany Herrera,  Gianna Bracalenti, and Hannah Heredia broke the school record which stood since 1987!  They won the event with a time of 22:06.27!  The Swedish Medley team of Isabella McKenna, Arianna Donovan, Stephanie Herrera, and Tiffany Herrera came back to break the record with a time of 2:28.29 to also break a records which stood since 2017!

DiOssi Sets Shot Put School Record

Max DiOssi threw 55-0 to set the new school record in shot put at the Charter Mini Meet #1. Max's throw eclipsed the old record of 53-8.75 which stood since 1986!

Diamond State Invite

McGonigle sets Long Jump record 18-6.5  #1 1 in STATE HISTORY!

Danni McGonigle won the long jump at the Diamond State Invite with a nationally ranked jump of 18-6.5. That puts her #1 in the state, #1 in school history by over 1 .5 feet, and #11 in state history!  Her mark set a meet and stadium record! She also won the triple jump in 37-5.5, took 2nd in the high jump with a PR of 5-2, and took 5th in the hurdles with a PR of 16.26.  Her triple mark was also a meet record!

Hessler Double winner in shot and discus!  

Sarah Hessler threw 110 to win the discus and 36-5.25 in the shot to win both events. She's currently ranked #1 in both events!

Hannah Heredia took 1st overall in the 3200M with a HUGE PR of 12:22!! 

Tiffany Herrera anchored the 3rd place Distance Medley team with a 5:11 and came back to finish 2nd in the 800m with a 2:22!  Stephanie Herrera medaled in 3rd with a 2:23!

The girls' 4x200M (Garibaldi, Brown, Malgiero, Russo)  and 4x400M  (Garibaldi, Malgiero, Rybaltowski, Russo) teams both took 2nd overall with a 1:51 and 4:20, respectfully!

Higland wins discus!

Senior Vaughn Highland took 1st overall in the discus with a throw of 135-8, while sophomore Logan Klein took 3rd with a 131-00!

Casey Winnington took 4th overall in the 800M with a new PR of 2:03. 43 after leading off the DMR with a 3:20 for 1200M.

The boys' 4x100M team took 2nd overall with a 46.13! (Lamb, Manelski, Hanggodo, Waldron)

New Long Jump School Record!  17-2 For Danni McGonigle in opener

The Spartans kicked off week 1 with Double wins against Archmere.  Danni McGonigle led the way by winning 3 events. Her long jump winning mark of 17-2 sets a NEW SCHOOL RECORD!! She broke the record set in 1987 by Malia Madric at 17-0.5!! That is a 35-year-old record!!

Newcomer Chad Dohl won the long jump with a state leading jump of 20-6! Bryce Tucci won 3 events to lead the Spartans!

Raleigh Relays Invite 3200M

Tiffany Herrera, Natalie Donaldson, and Stephanie Herrera competed in the invitational 3200M at the Raleigh Relays. Tiffany ran 11:03, while Natalie PR'd in 11:22 and Steph ran 11:26!

The girls finished 2nd overall with 113.86 points at the DIAA Indoor  State Meet. That is the highest point total ever recorded for  a second place team in state history!  The boys finished 13th overall at out 28 schools!

The girls were led by Tiffany Herrera, Danni McGonigle, and Sarah Hessler who all came home with state titles in their events!  Tiffany won the 1600M and took home first for the fourth straight year in the 3200M. Along the way she also finished 4th in the 800M. Danni McGonigle finished 1st in the triple jump, 2nd in the long jump, and 3rd in the hurdlers to medal in 3 events. Sarah Hessler continued her stellar season with a big win in the shot put. All 3 girls own school records and qualified for nationals in their events!!

The 4x200M team of Alexis Donovan, Morgan Russo, Reagan Garibaldi, and Arianna Donovan also finished 2nd overall!  Stephanie Herrera and Natalie Donaldson came in 3rd and 4th in the mile to help the girls go 1-3-4 in that event and score 21 points. They also tripled back in the grueling 800M and 3200M to score points for the team!

Sophomore Ellie Brown finished 5th overall in the pole vault and set a new school record at 8-6!  Isabella McKenna scored 3rd overall in the triple jump and 5th in the long jump to medal for Saint Mark's!

The 4x800M team of Kaileigh Brady, Morgan Russo,  Gianna Bracalenti, and Amelia Roosen took home 7th overall! Elena Foresta scored in finishing 8th in the shot put!

The boys were led by Max DiOssi who went undefeated in Delaware all season to be crowned state champion!  

Casey Winnington took 7th overall in the 1600M and 9th in the 3200M to score for the team. 

Bryce Tucci finished 9th in the high jump and hurdles to just miss scoring for the team, as did Connor Stockton in the 3200M. The 4x200M team of Brandon Cell, Patrick Lamb, Charlie Manelski, and Logan Klein came in 10th!

Max DiOssi threw 54-10 to shatter the school record in the shot put and qualify for the New Balance Indoor Nationals!   

Arianna and Alexis Donovan both break 200M Record  and also qualify for Indoor Nationals! They also BOTH qualified for nationals in the 55M!

The Spartans continue to tear up the trip and field records in 2022.  Tiffany Herrera and Natalie Donaldson also both qualified for New Balance Nationals in the 800m and 1500M! Their 800M times rank them #'s 2 and 3 in school history, to go along with their #1 and #3 ranked times in the 1600m. 

Danni McGonigle finished 2nd overall in the triple jump, and also had season-best performances in the high jump, long jump. and 55h.  Isabella McKenna triple jumped 35-1.5 to shatter the old indoor and outdoor triple jump school records!

Hessler Breaks School Record at Tower Hill #3!!

Senior Sarah Hessler threw 38-1 to break her own record by over 2 feet! She is now the #1 ranked thrower in Delaware!  Natalie Donaldson ran 11:25.91 in the 3200M to run the #3 fastest time in school history!  Danni McGonigle jumped 4-10 to capture the #2 best jump in school history! She also took 2nd overall in the 55M hurdles to capture the #2 time in school history in 9.07!  More to come...

Spartans Shine at the Virginia Showcase *** 3 Records Fall!

The Spartans had a big weekend at the Virginia Showcase at Virginia Beach, walking away with 3 new records and 3 close records in the process! Arianna Donovan had a big night, breaking a 34-year-old record in the 200M with a time of 26.96. Danni McGonigle broke the long jump record, set in 2014 by Gianna Corbett. Her jump of 16-10 broke the record by 8 inches!  Tiffany Herrera lowered her 2-mile school record with an 11:07!

On the boys's side, the 4x200 team narrowly missed our school record by 1/2 second, running 1:36.87.

More records Fall at the Hall of Fame Invite

The Spartans broke four more school records on Saturday at the Energice Hall of Fame Invitational at the Armory.

Tiffany Herrera broke Emily Frydrych's 1-mile record by finishing 5th in a highly competitive field of nationally ranked runners with a time of 5:05.65. Her time qualifies her for the New Balance Indoor Nationals Emerging Elite division. The 4x200M team of Danni McGonigle, Arianna Donovan, Morgan Russo, and Alexis Donovan shattered the record by 5 seconds in running 1:48.95. The old record stood since 2002 at 1:53.  McGonigle also broke her own triple jump record with a mark of 37-4. Ellie Brown tied the pole vault record of 8-0 as well for 2nd place overall.

The Girls captured the 2021 XC Division II State Championship!

Boys finish 3rd overall in Division II!!

Congratulations to the girls for finishing 1st overall and going undefeated in the state in 2021. The team finished the season winning 5 of the last 6 meets.

Division II State Champions,  County Champions,  Catholic Conference Champions, Joe O'Neill Champions, and Great American Champions

Tiffany Herrera finished 2nd overall to earn First Team All State for the fourth straight season. She is one of only 13 girls to ever earn that title. She also joins Analise Kaminski as the only two athletes in school history to be the team's #1 runner in every single XC race over four years!  Sister Stephanie Herrera finished 5th overall to earn 1st-Team All State for the second straight season! The pack of Kaileigh Brady, Emma Manley, Marissa Cirillo, Natalie Donaldson, and Hannah Heredia provided the depth they needed to earn their first XC state title since 2006! 

Casey Winnington led the boys to a 3rd-place finish. His finish of 7th place earned him 3rd-team All State! Connor Stockton finished 10th overall to help the Spartans. Topher Lord had a big day to finish 3rd on the team for the Spartans and 43rd overall. Michael Witkowski, Patrick Hogate, Niko Licup, and John Hyman all contributed to the team's highest finish since 2012!

***New Castle County Champs***

Girls Take County Champs! Boys Capture 5th! 

Tiffany Herrera Wins Individual County Title!!

The Saint Mark's girls' cross country team made history in finishing 1st at the New Castle County Championship, capturing the team title with 76 points! The boys finished 5th overall (3rd in D2) for their best showing of the season.

The girls were led by Tiffany Herrera, who took it wire to wire to win in 18:45. That establishes a new course record for Winterthur, and she is the first female Spartan to EVER win a New Castle County Championship! Behind Tiffany, the Spartans also placed 3 more girls in the top-25 to earn All County!  Stephanie Herrera (4th), Natalie Donaldson (22nd), and Kaileigh Brady (23rd) all earned the honors for the team.  Marissa Cirillo rounded out our top-5 scorers with a strong 27th place finish! Seniors Hannah Heredia (44th) and Kelly Barker (69th) contributed to winning the team championship!

The boys put forth their strongest performance of the season, with Casey Winnington and Connor Stockton running career-best races to lead the squad. Casey's 10th place finish in 16:55 and Connor's 15th place run of 17:24 both earned them All County! Topher Lord, Patrick Hogate, Niko Licup, Michael Witkowski, and Andrew Bailey all contributed to the team's best finish of the season!!

The girls also captured 2nd place overall in the JV race! Freshman Emma Manley also took it wire to wire in the JV race, winning convincingly by over a minute in 20:38! That is the 4th fastest freshman time in school history!  Pressley Paoli (6th), Lauren McDonald (12th), Sienna Trumbull (15th) and Katelyn Rybaltowski 16th) all medaled and scored for the Spartans. The JV boys came in 6th overall, led by John Hyman's 17th place finish!

The team competes next Saturday at Brandywine Creek at the DIAA State Meet.  Girls 1:40PM   Boys 3:00PM

Girls Capture Catholic Conferences!

Tiffany and Casey crowned Individual Champions!

The #1 ranked girls' team capture the 2021 Catholic Conference Championship with a convincing 22-33-87 victory over rivals Ursuline and Padua. Tiffany Herrera continued to the lead the way for the Spartans with a school record and #12 all-time performance of 18:03 at Bellevue State Park. Her time is also #2 in Meet History!  Casey Winnington took first overall in the boys' race with a new PR of 16:50 to again lead the #3 ranked Spartans!

Stephanie Herrera turned in a big PR performance of 18:30 to finish 2nd overall. Her time is #3 in school history, only behind Tiffany and Emily Frydrych! Natalie Donaldson had a big day, helping the Spartans go 1-2-3 with a 19:06 performance!

The girls also set a new 5-runner school record in the meet. Tiffany, Stephanie, Natalie, Kaileigh ( 7th in 20:07) and Marissa (9th in 20:25) averaged 19:14, shattering the old record of 19:26 set in 2010 at the same meet.  SMXC Fastest 5K GIRLS - Google Sheets

Hannah Heredia had a 50 second personal best to finish 15th in 20:44, and senior Kelly Barker ran her fastest time of the year to finish 18th in 21:25. 

On the boys' side, Connor Stockton earned 1st team all catholic with his 6th-place finish.  Niko Licup (18:10) Patrick Hogate (18:21) and Topher Lord (18:30) all earned 2nd-Team All Catholic!

Spartans win the Joe!!!

Saint Mark's girls XC took home the individual title vs every team in the state at the historic Joe O'Neill Invitational, named after our very own legendary XC Coach Joe O'Neill!!  The boys finished 8th out of 38 schools, and 3rd in Division II.

The girls placed three in the top nine to score 81 points in the win! Tiffany Herrera finished 2nd overall, followed by Stephanie Herrera in 5th, and Natalie Donaldson in 9th! The girls won for the first time in school history! Kaileigh Brady (24th) and Marissa Cirillo (41st) rounded out the top 5 for the #1 ranked Spartans!

The boys were again led by Casey Winnington's 33rd place finish. Connor Stockton came in 46th overall for the boys as they picked up 8th place as a team. They were #3 among Division II schools with 308 total points!

The girls' JV came in 4th overall by 81 points, led by by Hannah Heredia's 2nd place finish!  The boys JV finished 10th overall with 322 points!

Varsity Girls 6th in Eastern States!

The varsity girls finished 6th in the Eastern States Championship in New York City at the prestigious Van Cortlandt Park. 

Tiffany Herrera continued to lead the way with a 15:37 4K finishing time for 9th overall. Natalie Donaldson set her 4th straight junior course record on Saturday, running 15:54 to come in 17th overall. Stephanie Herrera ran 16:17 to come in top 30.   Gianna Bracalenti and Kelly Barker rounded out the top-5 with impressive runs in the top 45!  Hannah Heredia and Lauren McDonald both had excellent performances for our varsity. 

On the boys' side, Connor Stockton led all Spartans with a 15:01 finishing time. The young Spartan squad had 6 runners finish between 15:01 and 15:37 to finish 14th overall in the Varsity B Race!

In the girls' JV race, freshman Kailtyn Rybaltowski ran 18:28 to finish 13th overall to medal!

Donaldson, Stockton, and Hogate Set new school class records!

Saint Mark's XC traveled to the Great American XC Festival in Cary, NC, and came way with a big win in the girls' seeded section. Tiffany Herrera led the team in winning the 5000M race in a school record time of 18:14. Stephanie Herrera and Natalie Donaldson followed closely behind in 19:05 and 19:06 to finish 5th and 6th, respectively. Kaileigh Brady and Emma Manley rounded out the top 5 by running 20:33 and 21:03! Gianna Bracalenti and Marissa Cirillo both PR'd in 21:10 and 21:13 to help bump the opponents' scores!  Natalie Donaldson's 19:10 is also a new junior school course record!

Casey Winnington led the charge for the boys as they placed 3 under 18 for the first time this season in finishing 14th out of 18 schools in the Red Division.  Casey finished 29th overall in 17:02, followed by Connor Stockton's 17:29 PR. Stockton's time is a new Sophomore course record!  Niko Licup had a fantastic personal best by over a minute in finishing 17:54 to finish 79th in scoring.  Andrew Bailey (18:18), Patrick Hogate (18:22) and Brian Yeager (18:28) finished as a pack to help the team. Patrick Hogate also set the new freshman course record for Saint Mark's. Michael Witkowski also had a personal best in 19:19 for the Spartans!

The girls' JV finished 6th out of 20 schools with 162 points. The team was led by Seniors Hannah Heredia and Kelly Barker, who both medaled in season-best times. Heredia ran 21:37 to finish 17th, while Barker ran 21:48 for 22nd. Lauren McDonald and Ashley Geisewite finished side-by-side in 22:50, with Kaitlyn Rybaltowski (23:01) and Pressley Paoli (23:40) rounded out our top 6!

Varsity Girls finish 3rd in B Race; Boys finish 9th

New school record for Herrera! 18:10; Donaldson breaks junior record in 19:30.

The girl's varsity finished 3rd in a very competitive B race at the Six Flags Invite. Tiffany Herrera broke the school record on the course, finishing 4th in 18:10. That is her fastest invitational finish, and is just 3 seconds shy of the school record. Natalie Donaldson came in 13th in 19:32 to break the school junior record! Casey Winnington was the top boy of the day, finishing in 16th with a 16:58!

Unionville 2-Mile Bash


The girls finished 3rd and the boys finished 10th at the Unionville 2-Mile bash on Saturday.  The team was led by Tiffany Herrera's 1st-place finish in the senior girls race. She finished the course in a school record time of 11:50.  Stephanie Herrera finished 3rd in 12:05.  The top boys' finisher was Casey Winnington, who finished 25th in the senior race with a time of 10:52. 

Natalie Donaldson took 7th overall in the junior race and set a new junior record, and Brian Yeager took 9th overall in the freshman race to also break the school course record.

2021 Guest Speaker-      Aiden Barnhill- Downingtown West Senior

Monday, June 21st, at Papermill Park at 6:00PM

Downingtown West senior Aiden Barnhill ('21) will speak at this year's SMXC Summer Kickoff Party. Aiden recently ran a 4:06 full mile and an 8:58 3200M this season. He is currently ranked #7 in the nation in the mile. He will be completing at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in the fall in XC and Track. Aiden led the Whippets to the Pennsylvania XC State Championships in 2019 as a Junior.

The Spartans brought home the 2nd place trophy at the New Castle County Championships! The team had 4 individual titles and a new school record in the pole vault!  The boys finished 7th overall, and 2nd in Division II.

Tiffany Herrera breaks 3200M record at Henderson; MANY PRs in PA!!

Tiffany Herrera broke Emily Frydrych's 3200M school record on Friday evening with a 10:42.45 for fourth place in a loaded field of the region's top distance runners. Her time is #10 in state history!  Stephanie Herrera ran 11:02 to finish 11th overall and is now #21 in state history! Natalie Donaldson ran 11:30 to run the 7th fastest time in school history!  Jack Vito ran a PR of 9:37, with Casey Winnington just missing sub-10 with a 10:04. Jack's 9:37 is #5 in school history!

Earlier in the evening, Logan Klein improved on his discus PR with a throw of 128-0 for 6th place overall. Isabella McKenna jumped 16-7.5 to finish 10th! The 4x800M team of Erin Gebhardt, Angela Minner, Amelia Roosen, and Hannah Heredia finished 4th with a time of 10:33.82!  Logan Szczepanek ran his 400M personal best of 52.77!  Sarah Hessler finished 9th in the discus with a throw of 103-8.  Ellie Brown vaulted 8-8 in the pole vault!

The Spartans had a big day at Unionville, with records falling and top Delaware performances being attained! 

Danni McGonigle continued to tear up the runway with her 37-5 jump to win the triple jump and set a new school record! She is tied for 21st overall in STATE HISTORY! She is ranked #1 in the state in the triple jump and D2 High Jump!

Tiffany Herrera ran 5:00.41 to just miss the sub-5 barrier in the 1600m. She finished 3rd overall! Her time ranks her #24 in STATE HISTORY!!  Tiffany is ranked #1 in the state in both the 1600M and 3200M.

Max DiOssi finished 2nd overall in the shot put with a throw of 47-1. That mark ranks him #1 in D2!

Girls Division 2 Results (XC)

Girls finish 2nd overall, boys finish 7th, at the Caravel Invite!

Two new school records were broken on the girls' team as they scored 72 points to finish 2nd overall out of 18 schools. They were the top Division 2 school at the meet! The boys finished 7th overall and 3rd for D2 schools!

Freshman Ellie Brown vaulted 8-0 in the pole vault to establish a NEW SCHOOL RECORD! She finished 3rd overall and is now ranked #2 in Division 2!  

Sophomore Danni McGonigle jumped 36-5.5 to break her own school record (set last week) by a full foot to finish 2nd overall.

The trio of Tiffany Herrera, Natalie Donaldson, and Stephanie Herrera combined to score 24 points in the 1600, 16 points in the 800, and 8 points in the 4x400! Tiffany took first overall in the 1600 in 5:10, with Stephanie 2nd in 5:17, and Natalie 3rd in 5:23!

On the boys' side, Junior Vaughn Highland led the team with two 2nd place finishes in the shot put and discus! Vaughn PR'd in both events in 46-3.5 and 119-1! Max DiOssi finished 3rd in the discus in 115!

The boys' 4x400 team of Logan Szczepanek, Jack Vito, Rob Holland, and Casey Winnington finished 4th overall in 3:44, with Logan splitting a 52-second leadoff leg.

McGonigle Breaks Triple Jump School Record! Herrera wins 3 races! DiOssi shines in field

Girls win 103-59-3 vs #1 ranked Ursuline and DMA to go 4-0!

Boy win 81-3 to move to 3-0!

Danni McGonigle jumped 36-5.5 to break the school record in the triple jump by 2 inches over Gabby Jackson's mark from 2008 in just her second meet. On her 3rd jump, Danni eclipsed the record and made history.

Tiffany Herrera won the 1600, 800, and 3200 in impressive fashion to secure 15 points for the team in their win vs #1 ranked Ursuline Academy 103-59. She ran 5:18, 2:25, and 11:15 in her 3 events, with the 11:15 just 5 second off her personal best!  McGonigle also won the long jump in 15-10 and took second overall in the 100M and 200M to score 16 points for Saint Mark's!

Max DiOssi led the way for the boys with double wins in the shot put and discus! Bryce Tucci took home first in the long jump and 300 hurdles to lead the team. 

Spartans Open up 2021 with Double Wins

The boys' and girls' track & field teams opened the season both 2-0 with double wins vs Newark Charter and Conrad!  

Danni McGonigle kicked off her season in the jumps with a triple jump performance of 34-10, which is just five inches shy of our school record and #2 in school history! She came back to win the long jump in 15-10!  Tiffany Herrera, Natalie Donaldson, Erin Gebhardt, and Stephanie Herrera ran 9:57 to win the 4x800. Tiffany returned later to win the 1600 in 5:18 and anchor the winning 4x400M team (with Natalie Donaldson, Amelia Roosen, and Erin Gebhardt. The 4x200M relay team of McGonigle, Russo, Mckenna, and A. Minner finished 1st in 1:54.8.

Bryce Tucci was the top scorer of the day, winning three events (300 hurdles, Long Jump, and the 100m dash) and finishing second in the high jump!  The 4x800 team of Vito, Winnington, Smith, and Lord too 1st overall in 9:04. Vito came back to also win the 1600m in 4:47.  

The boys's throwers also had a big day, with Max DiOssi, Logan Klein, and Vaughn Highland all putting up strong performances. In the discus, DiOssi took first overall in 115'10, Klein was second in 112'1", and Highland was third in 111'2". In the shot, Highland took first overall in 43'1", DiOssi came in second in 41'4", and Klein finished 3rd in 39'6".  

The team competes again on Wednesday at home vs. DMA and Ursuline.

Herreras go 1-2 in 3200M to win a state title!  Hessler medals in 3rd!

The girls finished 7th and the boys 10th at the DIAA Indoor State Meet

The Saint Mark's track & field team competed last Wednesday at the DIAA Indoor State Championship in Dover, DE. Tiffany and Stephanie led the way for the Spartans with their dominant 1-2 finish in the 3200M. Tiffany's 11:10.60 is a new PR, while Stephanie lowered her best time in the event to 11:21 (a 42-second personal best).  Sarah Hessler led  in the field events with a 3rd-place finish in the shot put.

On the track, Casey Winnington charged late to run for 4th in 10:16 in the 3200M. Jack Vito nearly surprised the field by winning the 1st heat of the 1600M and finishing 4th overall in 4:35. Max DiOssi held a 6th-place finish in the shot put, while Erin Gebhardt pulled in an 8th place spot in the 800M.

We are two weeks away from the start of the 2021 outdoor track & field season. Flyers will be sent out in homerooms and lunches this week.

Saint Mark's Vs Tatnall

The Spartans went on the road to Tatnall on February 6th to pick up more state qualifiers.  Casey Winnington ran 10:30.0 in the 3200M to finish 3rd overall. Tiffany Herrera took home 3 wins in the 800M (2:30) 3200M (11:43) and 4x400M Relay (4:45). Stephanie Herrera had 2 second place finishes in the 800M (2:33) and the 3200M (12:03) to go along with her 4x400M victory. Erin Gebhardt finished 1st overall in the 400M and also won the 4x400M.

Spartans kick off the season at home

The Spartans kicked off the season against Archmere and Conrad at home on Friday. Max DiOssi led the way with an impressive 43-6 throw and win in the shot put. That marks ties his personal best throw, which he performed at the 2020 State Meet when he finished 5th overall!

Tiffany Herrera took 1st overall in the girls' 1600M with a 5:20, with Steph Herrera finishing 2nd in 5:38. Both boys' and girls' 4x400M relay teams took first overall as well!  Logan Szczepanek debuted in the 200M with an impressive win and PR in 24.99.

Indoor Track & Field 2021

The indoor track and field season kicked off on Friday, January 15th, at Abessinio Stadium. Casey Winnington and Max DiOssi led the way in the 1600M and shot put, respectively. Casey ran 4:51 and Max threw 33'6' to win the shot.

The whole team kicks off on FRIDAY, January 22nd, at Saint Mark's vs. Archmere.   All home athletes are allowed one spectator. 

The season concludes with the state meet in early March at Dover High School.

Tiffany Herrera becomes first ever female state Champion!

The Saint Mark's Spartans had an historical morning at Killens Pond. Tiffany Herrera became the first female runner in school history to win the state title, distancing herself by 11 seconds in the final stretch! Tiffany ran 18:51, to eclipse her school record of 18:53 set last year. Stephanie Herrera finished 5th overall to earn 1st-Team All State honors!  Kaileigh Brady had a big day, finishing 16th overall. Natalie Donaldson grinded out a gutsy 19th-place finish to help solidify a 2nd-place trophy for the 2nd straight year. Kelly Barker and Hannah Heredia finished 39th and 41st, respectively.

They boys matched their top rank of the year with a close 4th-place finish, just 6 points shy of 3rd. Jack Vito and Casey Winnington led the team with 17th and 19th place finishes! Freshman Connor Stockton and sophomore Topher Lord both finished in the top 30 for the Spartans. Senior Patrick Donahue rounded out the top-5 for the squad with a strong performance!  Nico Licup and Braden Zock finished 6th and 7th for the team!

Tiffany Herrera takes first overall, 18:39!

Tiffany Herrera led the entire field full of the top Delaware runners in the state at the Delaware Sports Club High School XC Invitational at Bellevue on Saturday. On a muddy course, Herrera led the way with a time of 18:39. Tiffany recently ran 18:07 on the course to establish a new school record. Natalie Donaldson finished 5th overall, and Stephanie Herrera was 8th as the team placed 3 in the top 10! The girls finished 2nd overall in the team score to Ursuline. Kaleigh Brady (24th) and Hannah Heredia (43rd) rounded out the top 5 for the team. 

Casey Winnington led the boys with a 33rd place finish in 17:58! Topher Lord was the team's second finisher at 18:37.

Tiffany Herrera Breaks 5K Record -18:07-

Tiffany Herrera ran 18:07 to break Emily Frydrych's 5K school record by 20 seconds! Tiffany took first overall in the dual meet vs. Wilmington Friends.  In 40 years of girls' XC in the Delaware, Tiffany unofficially holds the 12th fastest time ever run in the state!

Sophomore Natalie Donaldson finished second overall in 18:51 to run the fourth fast 5K in school history! she holds the #2 sophomore time in school history. Junior Stephanie Herrera finished 18:59 to come in third  and now holds the fifth fastest time in school history.  Kaileigh Brady (20:30) ran the thirteenth fastest sophomore time in school history for a thirty second PR. The top five girls averaged 19:36, which is the third fastest 5-runner average in school history.  The girls are currently ranked #1 in Delaware. 

Jack Vito finished third overall for the boys in a new PR time of 16:32. That is the fourteenth fastest time in school history! Casey Winnington and Topher Lord both PRd in 17:50 and 17:52 to finish sixth and seventh for the Spartans. Freshman Connor Stockton ran 18:37 for tenth overall.  The boys are currently ranked #4 in Delaware.

The Saint Mark's Girls' XC team took the top 7 places vs. CR in a 15-50 victory on Saturday. Tiffany Herrera, Natalie Donaldson, and Stephanie Herrera ran 19:06, 19:18, and 19:23 respectively to help the girls sweep. Stephanie's 19:23 is the #5 time in school history on the course. Tiffany set the junior girls' record at Killen's Pond. Kaleigh Brady, Jordan Ormsby, Kelly Barker, and Hannah Heredia formed a solid second pack, with Barker and Heredia setting PRs on the course!

Topher Lord led the boys with a 7th place finish in a personal best time of 18:15. Casey Winnington finished 2nd for the Spartans with a 50-second PR of 18:31. Freshman Connor Stockton dipped under 19 with an 18:57, and Nico Licup ran a lifetime PR in 19:26 for the boys.

Saint Mark's XC hosted the Spartan XC Invitational on Saturday on our campus. Tiffany Herrera and Topher Lord led the way with big wins in their respective races. Tiffany finished 3000M in 10:57, just two seconds shy of the fastest female time of the day. Topher Lord ran 10:32 to win the sophomore boys race Natalie Donaldson had the third fastest time of the day with a run of 11:12. Freshman Connor Stockton finished 2nd overall in the race, and junior Stephanie Herrera ran 11:26 for third in the junior race and fifth in the whole meet.

Spartans raise $1000 in the fight to end Child Hunger during the Coronavirus.

The Saint Mark's Track & Field team took on the challenge to raise money this week to help feed children in need. The proceeds benefit No Kid Hungry, a non-profit organization designed to help feed children who are out of school this year during the outbreak of Covid-19. 

The team combined to raise $1000 this week by running roughly 600 miles!  We finished as the top Delaware school and #5 in the country for high schools!

Thank you to everything that donated for the athletes who put in the miles!  Thank you to Coach Kramer for organizing this amazing fundraiser for our team.

Boys finish as #1 D2 School at State Meet!

The Spartans had a huge day at the indoor state championships, setting themselves up for big things this spring. 

Tiffany Herrera defended her 3200M state title, winning with a monster last lap in 32 seconds to close in 11:31.88!  

Zion Glover competed in 5 races at DIAA states. He finished 3rd in the 55M (6.54) 4th in the 400M (50.80), 2nd in the 200M (22.74) and anchored the 4x400M team to a 5th place finish (running 51.0).   

Connor Hessler came within .17 of capturing the 800M state title, getting nipped at the line to finish 2nd overall with a new PR of 2:01.24. He led the race until the final step. 

Max DiOssi had a magnificent day in the shot put, finishing 5th overall with a new personal best throw of 43'6". He came in as the 10th athlete with a throw of 41' before coming up big at states.

Natalie Donaldson, Stephanie Herrera, and Sarah Donaldson all had excellent performances in scoring for the team. Natalie finished 6th (5:25.73) and 8th (12:16.26) in her 1600-3200 double at states. Stephanie and Sarah both won their heats and scored 7th place for the team. Stephanie ran the 1600 in 5:29.49, and Sarah ran 2:30.12 to blow away the competition.

Boys win final Tower Hill Invitational; Girls finish 4th!

The boys took first overall at the Tower Hill Invitational #4 off four wins by Zion Glover. The girls were 1 point out of 2nd overall, finishing in 4th place.

Hessler Signs with Indiana University of Pennsylvania!

Connor Hessler signed his letter of intent on Wednesday morning in front of family, friends, teammates, and coaches. He will be attending IUP in the fall to run XC and Track.

Boys 1st, Girls 4th at Tower Hill Invite!

The boys finished 1st overall at the Tower Hill Invitational #3. The girls finished 4th overall. The team was led by 1st-place finishes in the 400M (Hessler) and the 55M (Glover).

Glover Sets 60M Record in 7.05!

Zion Glover ran 7.05 at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational to set the new school record! He just missed qualifying for New Balance Indoor Nationals by .01.

Tiffany Herrera Breaks 3000M Record in Win! (10:44.27) 

Glover 3rd in the 200M and 3rd in the 55M; Hessler 3rd in the 800M

Tiffany Herrera broke her own school record by 9 seconds at the Bears Invitational at Ursinus in 10:44.27. Herrera took first overall in the race after finishing 4th in the 1-mile in 5:21.78. Natalie Donaldson earned the auto qualifier for states in finishing 5th in 2:27.23. Sarah Donaldson finished 10th in 2:30.88 to earn the provision time.  

Zion Glover finished 3rd overall in the 200M in 22.97. He also finished 3rd in the 55M in 6.62. Connor Hessler received the auto qualifer in the 800M in a PR of 2:02.90 to come in 3rd. Jack Vito PRd in the 3000M to finish 5th in 9:38.89.

GIRLS' D1 + D2 MERGED RESULTS- SAINT MARK'S GIRLS FINISH #1 TEAM

The Saint Mark's XC team had their best performances of the season at the DIAA state meet. The girls almost pulled off the victory, falling just two points shy of becoming state champions for the first time since 2006. Tiffany Herrera was the state meet runner-up, finishing the course in 18:53 to establish a new school record at Killens! Natalie Donaldson had her best race of the season, finishing 3rd overall in 19:00. She set a new freshman record and ran the 2nd fastest time in school history!  Jordan Ormsby finished 7th overall in 19:37, setting a new PR in the process. Stephanie Herrera finished 9th in 19:39, running the 6th fastest time in school history!

The boys finished 5th overall, cracking the top-5 for the first time all season. Jack Vito led the way with his 5th place finish and all-state honors. His 16:33 is a new PR and is the 9th fastest time in school history on the course. Connor Hessler finished 14th overall to medal in 17:06!  Aidan Campbell, Jack Cleary, Topher Lord, Patrick Donahue, and Casey Winnington all ran season-best times to help the boys break into the rankings!

The boys and girls combined places of 2nd and 5th is the 2nd highest coed finish in the state, behind only Charter!!

Girls and Boys both finish 2nd at 40th Catholic Conference Championship

Saint Mark's celebrated 40 years of Catholic XC at the Catholic Conference Championship! Tiffany Herrera and Natalie Donaldson led the way by finishing 3rd and 4th overall. Jordan Ormsby and Stephanie Herrera cracked the top 8 with times of 19:51 and 19:57, respectively. Kalieigh Brady, Erin Gebhardt, and Sarah Donaldson rounded out our top 7 varsity runners.

The boys finished 2nd overall in their first conference championships since 2001. Connor Hessler finished 5th overall in 17:13 to lead the Spartans. Aidan Campbell, Jack Cleary, Topher Lord, Patrick Donahue, and Casey Winnington all ran season PRs for the boys' squad!

In the girls' JV race, Kelly Barker and Angela Minner medaled in the top 5 by finishing 4th and 5th, respectively.

Varsity Girls Finish 2nd at Joe O'Neil; Boys 13th out of 37 schools!

T. Herrera 2nd overall!  N. Donaldson 7th, Hessler 15th at Bellevue!

Saint Mark's girls had their highest finish since 2006 at the highly competitive Joe O'Neill Invitational, finishing 2nd out of 38 schools!  The Joe O'Neill is the largest in-state meet, combining both divisions in one big invitational. Tiffany Herrera led the way by finishing 2nd out of 213 runners in 18:52. Freshman Natalie Donaldson finished 7th overall, running the course in 19:16. Stephanie Herrera (20:02) finished 22nd overall, and Jordan Ormsby and Kaileigh Brady rounded out the scoring 5 in 29th and 43rd, respectively.

On the boys' side, Connor Hessler (16:48) and Jack Vito (16:59) again led the way by finishing 15th and 23rd in the race. Aidan Campbell (18:11) Topher Lord (18:38) and Jack Cleary (19:11) ran season best times to lead the squad.  

The JV girls finished 5th overall!

Herrera's 19:22 is ranked #3 all time on the course! Vito's 17:06 just missed the top-25 all time. Natalie Donaldson finished 6th overall in 19:48, good for #4 all time! Connor Hessler came in 4th in the boys' race in 17:12. 

Stephanie Herrera (20:22) Jordan Ormsby (20:28) and Kaileigh Brady (21:06) rounded out the top 5!
