DIAA State Meet The bus leaves on Friday at 12:30. Dismissal is at 12:15. We will leave Caesar Rodney after the 200M at 6:20. We should arrive home before 8PM. COMPETING ON FRIDAY- 4X800 (Pettoruto, Chamness, Wegrzyn, Prettyman), 3200 (Trofa, Gagnon), 100M H (Cope), Discus (Musumeci) On Saturday the bus will leave St. Mark's at 8:30am. Please arrive by 8:15. All girls participating in the state meet are required to attend on both days. Everyone else is expected to be there as well!!! 10th at Counties! It came down to the 4x400M, where the girls finished 5th overall in 4:12 to crack the top 10 at the New Castle County Championships over the weekend at Baynard. Congratulations to Joelle and Merissa for earning ALL COUNTY honor in the 800M and 300M hurdles respectively. Joelle finished 3rd overall in 2:20, and Merissa finished 2nd in 47.3. Both times are personal bests!! Juli Musumeci finished 6th overall in the discus, and Cope also finished 6th in the 100M hurdles. On Friday night, the 4x800 team of Prettyman, Danielle Wegrzyn, Marisa Chamness, and Sarah Pettoruto finished 4th overall, running 10:07. 34 Pr's at 1st State The girls again proved why we love competing at the 1st State Invitational. The team picked up 34 personal bests on the day at Caravel, with many girls getting automatic or provisional state qualifying times. Juli Musumeci led the way with her season-best discus throw of 95'10" for 3rd overall. Merissa Cope finished 3rd overall in the 300M hurdles, running her 2nd fastest time in the event. She is currently the #3 ranked runner in Delaware in that event. The girls compete again on Friday and Saturday at Baynard.
CATHOLIC CONFERENCE CHAMPS Tuesday, May 1- The girls finished 2nd overall at the Catholic Conference Championships on Tuesday night at the St. Mark's track. Senior Captain Merissa Cope led the way with to huge wins in the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. In the 100hurdles she won for the 3rd straight year, making her underfeated in the event at the Catholic Conference Championships. She came back in the 300 hurdles and posted the #1 ranked time in Delaware, running away in 47.40. Senior Captain Joelle Prettyman finished 1st overall in the 800M. She is currently ranked #7 in DE in the 800M. We have numerous 2nd place finishes, including Musumeci in the discus (94-11.5), Wegrzyn in the 1600 (5:35.65, and the 4x100 (Newton, Murphy, Dzik, Callahan), 4x200 (Prettyman, Murphy, Dzik, Callahan, and 4x400 (Prettyman, Wegrzyn, Charamella, Cope) teams. Great meet girls!!! THE PENN RELAYS Congratulations for the girls for their great performances at the Penn Relays. The 4x100 team of Krystina Callahan, Rachel Dzik, Courtney Surratte, and Merissa Cope ran 55.7. The 4x400 team of Cope, Joelle Prettyman, Danielle Wegrzyn, and Krista Charamella ran 4:16 for 6th in the Northern Delaware race. Videos comings shortly!! Thursday Results 4x100M | 4x400M Viking Invite 2012 Julie Musumeci took home a 2nd place medal in the discus at the 2012 Viking Invitational. She also placed 9th in the shot put. Joelle Prettyman took 6th place in the 800, running her personal best of 2:21.34. Plenty of PR's at Caravel The girls raised their dual meet record to 4-1 with a 101-45 win at Caravel yesterday. The girls took first in 11 events, with Juli Musumeci leading the way as a double winner in the shot and discus !! The girls race again on Saturday at the Viking Invitational! Girls finish 3rd at Caravel! The girls finished 3rd overall and brought home a trophy at the 2012 Caravel Invitational on Saturday. The 4x400M team of Joelle Prettyman, Merissa Cope, Danielle Wegrzyn, and Krista Charamella finished 1st overall with a season best 4:15.86!! The girls will race again on Wednesday against Caravel! Saturday, April 14th- Caravel Invitational (no bus) Lineup has been sent out! St. Mark's fell to Padua 45-94 on Thursday at St. Mark's. Merissa Cope led the way with two wins in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Her 48.8 is a PR, and the fastest 300M hurdle time in over 10 years for St. Mark's!!! Joelle Prettyman took first overall in the 800M, running 2:29.9. The 4x100 team of Dzik, Callahan, Giles, and Surrette took first overall in the relay as well!
The girls improved to 3-0 with wins over St. George's and St. Elizabeth's on Tuesday at St. Mark's. Merissa Cope led the way with 4 big wins. She took first in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump, and led off the winning 4x200M relay. Danielle Wegrzyn won both the 800 (2:32) and the 3200M (12:45), qualifying for states in both events. Joelle Prettyman also won the 1600M (5:49) and the 400M (1:05.5), and Juli Musumeci took first again in the shot (30-7.5) and discus (89-10). She qualified for states in both events as well!! Great job everyone!! 83-49 Win over Archmere The girls opened the season with an 83-49 win over Archmere. The 4 senior captains led the way with 6 overall wins. Merissa Cope won the triple jump (27-7) and the 300M hurdles (50.6), Joelle Prettyman won the 400M (1:03.7) and 800M (2:33.5), Danielle Wegrzyn took first in the 1600M (5:48.5), and Erica Trofa won the 3200M (13:03). Every running event was also an automatic state qualifying time. Wegryzn and Prettyman also led off the winning 4x400M team. Other winners were Juli Musumeci in the shot and discus. She reached the automatic mark in both events. Freshman Rachel Dzik took the win in the high jump, hitting 4-6 to get the provisional mark. The 4x800 team of Chamness, Ciolek, Gagnon, and Riley won in 11:17. We have three meets next week, with St. George's at home Tuesday, Padua at home Thursday, and the Diamond State Relays on Saturday.
